Frequently Asked Questions
COACHING
Who is the coaching client?
The client is someone who wants to be more effective, satisfied and self- aware. Clients enter a partnership with a willingness to be open, explore new ideas and follow through on their commitment. You may come looking for individual personal coaching for yourself or your teen. You may want to build a more dynamic program involving the whole family or DIY training to be your own "family facilitator".
How does the process work?
We work in a partnership. In scheduled sessions we work together on the principle that clients have their own answers and know what is best for them. Sessions do not aim to "fix" you or your family but rather work together to discover what's working or not working and then build a positive action plan.
We arrange the schedule, either in person, by phone, or via e-mail. A minimum of three months is suggested to establish the relationship and achieve the greatest results.
What happens in a session?
Initially we identify what you and/or your family wish to work on in that session. Coaching is based on the exploration of cognitive (what you think) and behavioural (what you do) patterns or habits. It identifies the "self talk" that can sabotage our best efforts.
Coaching can incorporate the use of powerful questioning techniques, tools and strategies. Intuition and trained listening skills also help me to hear what the client is and is not saying. It works through a clarifying process of identifying and re-framing unproductive behaviour or thought patterns.
It is designed to help others discover clarity of goals and to take responsibility for their own achievements and successes. It can be a powerful family process to open communication, building more love and connection in your family.
What is the long term impact?
Coaching is designed to provide clients with a "tool box" of skills to produce results and increase confidence. As a result of our time together clients leave with the skills and resources needed to maintain the positive momentum they have established.
The coaching relationship remains open. Clients are always welcome to reconnect and explore new skills, dreams or desires. Our established coaching relationship is always an available, powerful alliance, providing support and accountability when ever you need it.
All sessions are held in complete confidentiality.
